At last night’s February board meeting, the following were recognized with Achievement Spotlights:
• STEAM Academy at Mambrino performed the Pledges at the meeting, led by STEAM Ambassadors Ambrielle Gamble, Aubrey Ross, Aubrey Lee, Skylar Yandell, Jay Cruz, Beckett Hance, Ellis Palmer, Evan Turner, KayLeigh Thompson, Colin McKethan, Shelbie Matlock along with Principal Melissa Shipp and Media Specialist Randi McPhate.
• 2025 Area 18 Campus and District Spelling Bee Winners: Maria Hustak (Acton Middle School, 1st place), Ryan Crawford (Granbury Middle School, runner-up), Christian Negrete (Acton Elementary), Sebastian Haro-Robledo (Baccus Elementary), Luke Lewellen (Brawner), Aubrey Ross (Mambrino), and Ashlyn Oelschlegel (Oak Woods). Students were presented by GISD’s Area 18 Spelling Bee Coordinator René Jackson.
• Spanish Campus and District Spelling Bee Winners: Aranza Espinoza (Brawner, 1st place) and Fernanda Rodas Morales (Baccus, runner-up). Students were presented by GISD’s Spanish Spelling Bee Coordinator Kristina Sosebee.
• Shottenkirk Granbury High School Seniors of the Month for January and February: Lillian McCoy and Pete O'Carroll. Both students received a $500 scholarship courtesy of Shottenkirk Automotive Group.
• GHS Senior Football Academic All-State recipients: Hayden Meyer, Eli Sisco, Abel Aguado Espinosa, Mason Rucas, Aidan Felton, Axel Davila, and Phoenix Schultz. Students were presented by head football coach Bobby Allison.
• GHS Senior Volleyball Academic All-State recipients: Allyson McCabe, Blakely Bleeker, Addison Cowling, Audrey Greinert, and Lily McCall. Students were presented by head volleyball coach Desiree Shahan and assistant coach Kayla Overton.
